Methodology and key points

We have always followed an eclectic method and blend aspects of modern linguistics with other traditional techniques. We emphasize the oral and communicative aspects of the language – but without forgetting that to master a language you need to work on the four basic skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing.

Groups are small and homogeneous and this facilitates individual teacher-student attention. We analyze the needs of each student and offer the most suitable training.

There are different levels for children, teenagers, and adults. General courses consist of seven levels from beginners to advanced. Children and teenager courses are divided into 4/5 levels – depending on the age and level when beginning studies with us.

All groups work with a textbook and a workbook and – depending on their level – a graded reader per term.

We believe new technologies offer a marvellous addition to courses and we take advantage of them all.Our classrooms are equipped with IWB´s and our textbooks are in paper or digital format.

We monitor attendance daily and teachers write a report on the progress of each student at the end of term. At the end of the course a certificate confirming their achievement and European framework level is issued.

KEY POINTS

1. Anyone can learn a language.
2. Be wary of offers that stress a short and effortless learning process. Unfortunately, there is no ‘magic formula’
3. Learning a language takes time, requires dedication, and of course, discipline.
4. Expensive advertising and marketing campaigns do not guarantee good results.
5. The figure of the language teacher is essential and irreplaceable: Regardless of the material and technological resources used in the classroom – teachers cannot be replaced.
6. A language teacher does not need to be from a specific nation. However, to teach a language it is necessary to master the language and be qualified to teach.
7. A proper learning context involves the interaction of three factors: goodwill, dedication and perseverance. Leave the rest to professionals and you will save time.
8. Before enrolling at a language school, check that it is accredited by a representative organisation, i.e. the FECEI. This is a guarantee that certain standards are met, or alternatively, that the school meets objective criteria of quality.
